On Saturday, March 29, 2025, Elise G Tilyou of Severna Park, Md passed away peacefully at home. Born in Glens Falls, New York, to Edna Rose Geiger (d) and Eugene Wilhelm Geiger (d), she was 95 years old.
Elise grew up in Riverdale, Md and attended Hyattsville High School. She married Benjamin Phillip Tilyou (d) of Hyattsville in April of 1953. They lived in East Riverdale, Md until moving to Severna Park in 1990. They were married for 56 years.
Elise was a retiree from the Prince George's County Public Schools staff, and a natural organizer. She was active in the Episcopal Churchwomen of St. John's Episcopal Church in Mt. Rainier, and St. Martin's in-the-Field Episcopal Church in Severna Park, Md.
Elise was predeceased by her sisters Anita K. Lort of East Riverdale, Md and Ruth A. Flood of Severna Park, Md.
Elise is survived by her two sons Mark R. Tilyou of Severna Park, and Eric P. Tilyou (Dona) of Severna Park. She is survived by grandchildren Teresa T. Rosson of Henderson, Tenn; Rebecca T. Nurse (Paul) of University Heights, Ohio; Paul A. Tilyou (Rachael) of Chandler, Arizona; and nine great-children.
Elise is also survived by cousin Ralph Geiger of Germany; sister-in-law Connie Tilyou of Lakeland, Fla; and by nieces and nephews, including Rosemary L. Caspar (Tom) of Minneapolis, Minn; Yvonne T. Allen (Larry) of North Ft. Myers, Fla; Joyce T. Jane (Wes) of Lakeland, Fla; Jay Russell Tilyou, Jr. of Frostproof, Fla; and Cathi R. Ramagnano (A.J.) of Severna Park, Md.
The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of Amada Senior Care, Annapolis for the care and compassion provided to Elise during the past several years. The family would also like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Chesapeake for the care and compassion provided to Elise during the past three months.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 3 pm at St. Martin's in-the-Field Episcopal Church in Severna Park, followed by a catered reception in the parish hall. Private interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md. will be earlier that day.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of condolences may be made with donations in Elise's name to the Memorial Garden Fund of St. Martin's in-the-Field, 375 Benfield Road, Severna Park, Md. 21146.
