Eleanor Sanchez of Severna Park, 77, died on October 27, 2010, after a long battle with lung cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some small or profound way throughout her life.
A Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odenton, Maryland, followed by a wake immediately afterwards; Reverend Bill Viola will officiate. Internment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on December 2 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception.
Ms. Sanchez was born on October 22, 1933, in New York City, to Angela and Joseph Ferlanto. After graduating from high school, she worked for the United States government in Washington, DC, where she met her husband and continued her education. Their three-year tour of duty in Germany was among the happiest periods of her life. Ms. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed family and friends, the arts, shopping, traveling, reading, and current events. Her quick wit and subtle sense of humor kept everyone in good spirits even at the end. She will be missed greatly.
Ms. Sanchez was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Miguel. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Dittmar and Jen and Nicola Sanchez; her sons-in-law; three grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Lung Association.
