Bunko
February 17, 1938 – May 3, 2014
Eleanor Grace Bunko, aged 76, died peacefully at her home on May 3, 2014 after an inspirational 20 year battle with cancer.
She was born on February 17, 1938 at the family homestead in Warren County, New Jersey and was the youngest of the three daughters of Mary and Albert Seaman.
Eleanor grew up in New Jersey where she graduated from Phillipsburg High School. She then attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1959. Shortly thereafter she became the beloved wife of Myron Bunko and enjoyed an adventurous and wonderful 30 years of marriage until Myron's death in 1989.
The family moved to Maryland in 1970 and Eleanor began her 24 year employment North Arundel Hospital, now the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, in 1974. She became the manager of the Central Services Department in 1984. She served as President of the Maryland Organization of Central Services from 1988 to 1990 and continued to work in Central Services until her retirement in 1997.
In 2002 she married Richard Werbisky and was blessed with an additional wonderful family. Their marriage was rich and truly a celebration of life, though brief as Richard fought his own battle with cancer and passed in 2006.
Preceded in death by her husband, Myron and also by her husband, Richard she is survived by her daughter, Lisa Pitt and her grandson David Pitt as well as her additional daughters, Diane Gehret and Donna Villalobos and son David Werbisky along with six more grandchildren and a great grandson. She also leaves behind her sister, Marion Janisch and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Throughout her life, Eleanor enjoyed world travel, reading, summer vacations at the beach, and cooking and entertaining friends. Active in her community, she served as President of the Lake Waterford Community Association from 2007 until January of 2014. Her family is grateful for the many dear friends and neighbors who have been so close and for the wonderful care she has received these many years from her doctors, nurses and medical staff.
