Elaine Lucille Kirk, 77, a resident of Severna Park, died on February 17, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
She was born on November 30, 1936 in Portland, Maine to her parents Roland and Lucille Borduas. Elaine received her Bachelor's degree at St. Joseph's College and her Master's degree at Columbia University and she taught at Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, and then became a homemaker.
Elaine was a member of Our Lady of the Fields Church and was on the Bereavement Committee. She volunteered for the Hospice of the Chesapeake at Chesapeake Treasures and at Sarah's House. She enjoyed playing couples and women's bridge, playing the piano, vacationing at Biddeford Pool, Maine, and caring for her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Claire Derry and her daughter in law Diane Kirk.
She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Kirk, Sr. of Severna Park; two sons, Edward J. Kirk, Jr. (Linda) of Branford, CT and Michael T. Kirk (Andrea) of Abingdon, MD; two daughters, Susan C. Stokes (Kerwin) of Annapolis and Anne K. Hart (Peter) of Grasonville; ten grandchildren, Eddie III, Katie, Michelle, Brian, Elizabeth, Tommy, Hunter, Ashley, Elena and Lauren; and three brothers, Ted Borduas of Herndon, VA, Arthur Borduas of Venice, FL, and Mark Borduas of Portland, ME.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm and on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 9:15 to 10am at Our Lady of the Fields Church, 1070 Cecil Avenue, Millersville, MD 21108, A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10:00 am following the visitation. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.There will be a reception in the church hall following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122 or to Georgetown University Hospital Memory Disorders Program, 4000 Reservoir Road, N.W. Building D, Suite 177, Washington, DC 20057.
