Elaine Bucalo Carter, age 81, died on March 16, 2024, at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland, following a brief illness and surrounded by family and friends.

Elaine was born on December 27, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York to Fred and Rose (Gurrieri) Bucalo. She married Richard Carter in 1963 and they settled in Monmouth County, New Jersey in 1969. She worked as a bookkeeper with the Colts Neck Township Schools and as a secretary for Dr. Carl Rankl, MD, a psychiatrist. She raised her family in Matewan, NJ and was then a long-time resident of Red Bank, NJ, before moving to Annapolis, MD in 2022.

Elaine is survived by her brother Fred, two sons, Thomas (Susan) Carter of Severna Park, MD and John Carter of Northport, FL; and four grandchildren, Nicole Carter, Dylan Carter, Rowan Carter and Henry Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; her parents, and her brother Victor (Marlene) Bucalo.

Elaine remained close to the Carter family following the untimely passing in 1991 of her husband, who was the youngest of eight brothers. She regularly attended Carter family reunions, most recently in 2023. She remained close to her lifelong friends and their families-- Maureen Mulcahy of Old Bridge, NJ and Mary Ann Uglialoro of Holmdel, NJ, who passed away in 2018.

Elaine will be laid to rest with her husband Richard. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 23 in the chapel at the Holmdel Cemetery in Holmdel, NJ, with a luncheon following the service.
