Son of Artur and Hedwig Thies, Saginaw. He went home to our Lord after a long illness. He was born in a post-war displaced persons camp in Germany and was brought by his family to the US in 1952. He attended Arthur Hill Tech, and Graduated from Bridgeport HS in 1968. In 1969-1971 he deployed to Korea with the Army. After returning, he made his home in Knoxville TN, establishing E&T Plumbing. Due to illness, in 2019 he retired to Annapolis MD to be near family. He was known for his friendliness and sense of humor. He is survived by his sister, Christiane (Stanley) Carlson-Thies and nephew Simon (Danielle) of Annapolis; and his brother Edgar, niece Jolyn (William) Miller and grandniece Alyssa of Saginaw.

Interment will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 10am in the Crownsville Veteran Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD 21032
