Edwin T. Beall, Sr. (Ted), 82, a resident of Glen Burnie, Maryland for more than 50 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7. Mr. Beall grew up in Baltimore, Maryland.  He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1953. He served in the United States Army on active duty from 1954 to 1957 and as a reservist thereafter. He attended Johns Hopkins University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with a Major in Civil Engineering.

His 40 plus year career in Architecture included working for Henry Powell Hopkins Architects where he was part of the team designing many of the area hospitals including North Arundel (now Baltimore Washington Medical Center), Levindale, and Johns Hopkins.  He furthered his career with Daniel Mann Johnson and Mendenhall (DMJM) where he was part of the team that designed the Sky Train System for the Expo 86 World's Fair in Vancouver BC, Canada, and other projects to include the Baltimore Subway.  Ted finished his career with Banta Campbell Architects and retired in August 1999.

Ted was passionate about his profession and was tremendously respected by his associates and clients. There was not a place visited or a conversation had that did not include how the structure was designed and the materials used to build, or what he was planning to invent.  His other passion was "The Farm."  He very much enjoyed helping his Grandfather on his Farm (vegetables and tobacco) in Annapolis.  He could talk endlessly about rising early and working the fields, and then having a big breakfast ready when they returned to the house.  He enjoyed nature, aquatic fish, reading (National Geographic), redesigning things, mind puzzles and crosswords.  He spent many hours designing and building train gardens every Christmas that would encompass the entire back porch or span the width of the family room.  He was a collector of 20 plus Raikes Bears and animated music boxes.  He spent many enjoyable summers relaxing in Ocean City with family and friends, and trips to the Outer Banks.

Mr. Beall was preceded in death by his parents Theodore Aloysius Beall and Anna Virginia (nee Crandell) Webster of Pasadena, brothers Melvin Charles Beall, Sr. of Severna Park and Richard Lee Beall of Arnold.

Mr. Beall is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Helen Beall (nee Jericek) of Baltimore.  His two Daughters and sons-in-law Kimberly Karen and John W. McLanigan of Millersville and Carolyn Anne and George D. Dalton of Odenton; son and daughter-in-law Edwin T., Jr. and Melanie Beall of Glen Burnie; Grandchildren John W. McLanigan, III (and wife Christine), Christopher M. McLanigan (and wife Debbie), Jake Beall, Kyle D. Beall, Rachel A. Beall, and step grandchild Tenille L. Kennedy (and husband Abraham) of San Antonio, Texas; as well as Great Grandchildren Sabrina Kennedy, Tabitha Kennedy and McKenzie McLanigan.  He is also survived by his sister Virginia Wallace of Tacoma, Washington and sisters-in-law Gloria Beall of Severna Park, Patricia Beall of Annapolis, and Cathy Haas (Beall) Wirth of Arnold as well as eight nieces and nephews and their families.

Family & friends may visit on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 3-5pm & 7-9pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy.
