Edward Thompson
Edward James Thompson Sr., 87, a resident of Heartlands in Severna Park and formerly a longtime resident of Linthicum, died of natural causes May 30 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie.
Mr. Thompson was born July 24, 1918, in Baltimore, reared in Annapolis and graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
In 1984 he retired from Transit Casualty Co. in Baltimore. He was past president and one of the founders of the Association of Defense Trial Counsel, now called Maryland Defense Counsel Inc.
He was an active member of the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church and enjoyed hiking, golf, travel, staying at a summer home in Bayse, Va., and playing bridge.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie H. Thompson, whom he married in 1945; one daughter, Carol A. Kirkpatrick of Linthicum; one son, E. James Thompson Jr. of Severna Park; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge.
