Edward "Ned" Steinberg, 83, of Annapolis, a retired association executive, died of Alzheimer's disease Feb. 14 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Annapolis.
Mr. Steinberg was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Washington, D.C. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1943 with a degree in marketing and sales management and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was also a member of the University of Maryland Alumni Association and the Terrapin Club.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946 in Okinawa.
Before retiring in 1961, he was executive director of the Kex National Association and director of the Association for Industrial Laundries and the National Glove Association. Previously he worked in Washington for the Department of Agriculture as an administrative officer and the District of Columbia Dental Society as executive secretary.
He was a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the College Park Rotary Club, where he served as president in 1972, the Severna Park Rotary, Prince George's County Club in Landover and Chartwell Golf and Country Club. He belonged to St. Paul's Anglican Church in Crownsville.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Emily Spire Steinberg, whom he married in 1943; one daughter, Carol Swain of Severna Park; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Crownsville Road and Generals Highway in Crownsville. Burial is private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
