Edward Sohn
Edward Daniel Sohn, 84, of Severna Park, died of lymphoma Dec. 3 at his home after an eight-month illness.
Born in Baltimore on Aug. 14, 1922, and reared in Pasadena, Mr. Sohn attended the University of Maryland, College Park, and Bliss Electrical College in Silver Spring. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945.
In June 1973 he retired as an engineer with the National Security Agency after 28 years of service.
A resident of Langley Park from 1945 to 1957, he then resided in Linthicum from 1957 to 1991 and subsequently moved to Severna Park. He was a member of the Kent Island Yacht Club, the Bodkin Yacht Club, the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company, the Patapsco River Power Squadron, the Silver Spring Masonic Lodge 215, the Scottish Rite in Baltimore, the Maryland Saltwater Sports Fishermen's Association and Christ Lutheran Church.
He loved boating and sports, and bowled and played baseball and football in his earlier years.
Surviving is his wife, Nona Shaver Sohn, whom he married in 1943.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Burial will be private.
