Edward E. Reuther, 97, a resident of Severna Park, died August 4 at Genesis HealthCare in Severna Park.
He was born on October 2, 1913, in Wheeling, WV, and raised in Martins Ferry, OH. He previously lived in Parkersburg, WV and District Heights, and moved to Pasadena in 1994.
Edward served in the U.S. Army during WW II as Staff Sergeant of the 691st Ordnance Company in the European Theatre. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church and currently a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Glen Burnie.
He worked as a Revenue Officer for the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1974 after 25 years of service. After his retirement, he was employed with the C & P Telephone Company for 4 years in Washington D.C.
Mr. Reuther was preceded in death by his wife, Ann L. Reuther, who died July 9, 1999, and his son, David E. Reuther, who died in April of 2004.
He is survived by his daughter, Louise A. Gilmore of Severna Park, and his two grandchildren, Christopher and Katie Gilmore.
There will be a chapel service on Thursday, August 11 at 1:45 p.m. at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Crownsville. Arrangements made by Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home.
