Edward “Reed” Meredith Presnell, 72, of Chester, MD, passed away at home after a courageous battle with leukemia on May 26, 2026.

Born on August 31, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Edward Meredith Presnell, Jr. and Romaine Hilda Presnell, nee Lawton.

Reed graduated from Northeast High School in 1970 and graduated with honors from Johns Hopkins University, May, 1980, winning the Edward J. Stegman, CPA, memorial award for excellence in the study of accountancy. He passed the CPA exam in November, 1980, earning the Elijah Watts Sells award. He spent his career working as a corporate accountant, retiring in 2016.

Reed was an avid runner for many years and changed to biking later in life. He spent many happy hours biking on the Cross Island Trail with the Four Seasons bike group in Chester, MD, and with the Old Spokes biking group in Eden Prairie, MN. He loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and 30 countries during his lifetime. He was known for his kindness, friendliness, generosity, sense of humor, and his deep love of history, baseball, and football.

He is survived by his wife Kristan; his daughter Jennifer; his son Ted and wife Shelby; his grandchildren Eddie and Abby; his great-grandson Elijah; his sister Kelli; his cousin Bettiann Tumolo and her family; other cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Romaine and his father Ed.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday May 30, 2026 from 1:00pm-2:00pm with s service to follow at 2:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care,P.A 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146.
