Edward James Mick III, 50, of Severna Park, died of cancer Sept. 1 at his home after a lengthy illness.

Born in Baltimore, Mr. Mick was a longtime resident of Severna Park. He graduated from Severna Park High School. where he was president of the Key Club, and from Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg.

He worked as a sales manager in the plumbing and heating industry and had also worked in the Circulation Department of The Capital newspaper.

He was a past president of the Severna Park Kiwanis Club, a member of the Glen Burnie Elks Club and the Sons of the American Legion.

A avid sports fan, he was a supporter of Baltimore's baseball and football teams.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie L. Heinrich Mick; two sons, Edward James "Jamie" Mick IV and Andrew John Mick; his father, Edward James Mick Jr., and two sisters, Carmela Riley and Shirley Murphy, all of Severna Park.

He was the son of the late Carmella Lanzone Mick.

A visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial is private.
