IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward J.
Gill, Sr.
August 21, 1953 – June 21, 2024
Edward James Gill, Sr., (70), of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, passed away on June 21, 2024. Surrounded and supported by family, friends, and loved ones, Ed had bravely endured a multi-year battle with prostate cancer before his passing. He was the son of the late Howard L. Gill Sr and Ruby R. (Bangs) Gill. Ed was born on August 21, 1953, in Baltimore, Maryland and was raised in Dundalk. He graduated from Patapsco High School (1971) and continued his studies at Carson-Newman College (1975), graduating with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Accounting and Management. He then pursued a Master's Degree in Accounting and Information Systems from Virginia Tech and graduated in 1978. As both a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, for almost four decades Ed managed his own accounting practice in Anne Arundel County. Offering unparalleled service, Ed's diverse clientele also represent many of his closest friends and family. Everyone who knew Ed would agree that he had a special way of seeing the best of potential in both people and their businesses, even when they could not see it themselves. For this reason, Ed dedicated his life to being a devoted father, husband, brother, son, dear friend, accountant, and most trusted advisor. Ed always gave everything he had to help others become the very best version of themselves. Throughout the decades, he touched countless hearts, helping to build firm foundations for lives well lived and businesses well run. As a 7th grade athlete of the year, Ed never gave up. He always said, "I have to work twice as hard for half as much, but don't cry for me, I lived a great life." Accordingly, Ed's spirit, love, and legacy will forever live on in the minds and hearts of all who knew him. Ed believed in giving back to the community by supporting many charities with his favorite's being Saint Jude's, Save The Bay, SPCA, and Tunnel to Towers. He was an active fisherman, enjoyed boating and gardening. Ed is predeceased by his parents, the late Howard Sr and Ruby Gill, his late wife, Debra Gill, and is survived by his significant other of over a decade, Marsha Hagan, his children, Julie Ledlich (Michael), Randy Gill, Edward Gill Jr, and Christopher Gill, his grandchildren, Michael Ledlich V (Makenzie), Julianna Stencil (Brandyn), great grandchildren, Michael Ledlich VI, Cash Ledlich, and siblings, Howard Gill Jr, Judy Colgan (Benjamin), Linda Hoppe, and Melvin Gill Sr (Linda).
