Edward G. Carter, 100, a longtime resident of Severna Park, died on June 29, 2014 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Edward was born to his parents, William and Mary (Nollett) Carter in Detroit, MI, where he was raised. He earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Detroit and was a member of the Michigan Bar, practicing law until 1942 when he entered the Army Air Force. During WW II he served 2 ½ years in the South Pacific until he was discharged in 1945. After the war, Edward was an attorney for the War Assets Division in Detroit. In 1948, he was appointed as a civilian contract attorney with the Air Material Command in Dayton, OH. Later he joined the Staff Judge Advocate of the Research and Development Command as a procurement law attorney. Air Research and Development Command was reformed into the Systems Command at Andrews Air Force Base, where Edward became Chief of the Procurement Law Division in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate until his retirement in 1980. Following retirement he became active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. John the Evangelist Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Severna Park.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife Mary B. Carter in 2004. He is survived by his children, Mary Lombardo, Patricia Quill, Margaret Perley, Edward Carter, Jr, Evelyn Clarke, Suzanne Boulay, James Carter, Joseph Carter, Gerard Carter, and Kathleen Garrett, as well as, 31 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Friends may visit on Friday July 11, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8:00pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday July 12, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Church. A private interment will be held on Monday, July 14th at the MD Veteran's Cemetery in Crownsville.
