Edward E. Carlson, 96, a resident of Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville for five years and formerly of Cape St. Claire, died of heart failure Nov. 7 at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore after a brief illness.
Mr. Carlson was born Feb. 15, 1909, and reared in Boston, Mass., and lived in the Washington, D.C., area from the early 1950s until moving to Cape St. Claire in 1964. During World War II he was in the Navy.
He was a life and health insurance salesman in the Washington area for more than 25 years before retiring in 1967.
Mr. Carlson was a Mason and a member of Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church.
His wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Walker Carlson, died in 1993. Surviving are a son, Allen Walker of Orrtanna, Pa.; two sisters, Alice Regnell and Lillian Cook, both of Boston; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 9 to 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will follow. Burial will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Bladensburg.
