Edward "Ed" R. Bender, 83, passed away at home on August 7, 2016.

Ed was a Coast Guard veteran. His interests included fishing, crabbing, and boating on the Chesapeake Bay with the Maryland Cruising Club and friends. He was a loyal fan of the Baltimore Orioles, the Ravens, and the Maryland Terrapins.

Ed is survived by his loving wife Bernadette; daughter Alison; son Alan and his wife, Mayko; and son Mark and his wife, Roxane. He is also survived by his brother Michael; grandchildren Justin and his wife Jessica, Sara, Michael, Mica, Noa, and Sage; great-grandchildren Mason and Sean; nephew Michael; and niece Kathleen.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, August 19th, 2016 between 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 20th, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment will be held on November 9th, 2018 at 10:45am in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville
