Edna Gipe Eshelman, 77, of Arnold, Maryland, beloved mother of James and Jon, cherished grandmother of Ryan, Cody, Jackson, and Ava passed away on July 4, 2010 Queen Anne's. Edna had fought a courageous battle against cancer for the last 5 ½ years.
Edna was born February 2, 1933 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania daughter of Clarence Gipe and Nellie Hassler Gipe. She grew up in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. Edna earned her bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University.
Edna enjoyed teaching for many years at Belvedere Elementary School. She loved children and they lover her. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, most of all her grandchildren, substitute teaching, volunteer work at the local elementary schools, and working with her arts and crafts.
Edna is survived by her two sons, James Eshelman, IV and Jon Eshelman, both of Chester, MD; by her four grandchildren, Ryan Eshelman, Cody Eshelman, Jackson Eshelman, and Ava Eshelman, all of Chester, MD; by her brother Richard Gipe of Fort Washington, MD; and by several nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by her two sisters, Thelma Gipe Ruskin and Maralee Gipe Rook.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00PM and 6:00 - 8:00PM at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday July 8, 2010 at 11:00AM in the Funeral Home Chapel.
