Edith Swan Pierre, 87, a resident of Severna Park since 1949, died of natural causes July 13 at her home after a brief illness.
Mrs. Pierre was born and reared in North St. Paul, Minn. She was married to Leslie J. Pierre in September 1936 and moved to Baltimore in 1939. A homemaker, she was a very active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and time with her family.
Mr. Pierre, a retired civil engineer, died Jan. 29, 1999. Their daughter, Barbara Anne Pierre, died in 1957.
Surviving are three sons, Leslie John Pierre Jr. of Alexandria, Va., Michael J. Pierre of Ellicott City and James Dean Pierre of Severna Park; one daughter, Jeanne Wright of Alexandria; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Cypress Creek Road and Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery in Glen Burnie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Mid-Atlantic Division, Inc. 1041 Route 3 North, Building A, Gambrills MD 21054.
