On April 1, 2013, Edith M. Luther lost her battle with Parkinson's disease. She was the beloved wife of Ralph A. Luther, devoted mother to Brenda J. Luther, Mark A. Luther and Karen E. Austin. Loving Grandmother of Asahi E. Eveleth, Derek A. Luther, Bryan R. Luther and Sam H. Luther and cherished Great-Grandmother of Kamryn E. Grandstaff.

Edith was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1980 and died from its complications. Since her diagnosis, she spent considerable time and energy raising awareness and funds to help find a cure to this terrible disease. She died at home with her immediate family comforting her. She loved golf, going to antique auctions, and collecting and refinishing antiques. She also loved her University of Maryland Parkinsons Doctors and Nurses as well as her Parkinson's Support Group friends.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 1:00 pm- 2:00 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, 21146. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm, after the visitation. Interment will be in West Point Cemetery in NY on April 11, 2013 at 1:30 pm.

Since Parkinson's was such a factor in her adult life, she wishes any memorial to her memory be sent to the University of Maryland, Baltimore Foundation (make checks payable to UMBF, Inc.) in support of the Maryland Parkinson's Disease Center. Please send your checks to: University of Maryland School of Medicine, Development Office, Attn: Patricia Bates, 100 North Greene Street, Suite 600, Baltimore, MD 21201.
