Edith Renee Dean, 80 passed away in Arnold, Maryland on November 4, 2022. Edith is survived by her daughter Wanda Wilson, Arnold, MD; grandson Reggie Powell and his wife Amy Powell, Annapolis, MD; grandson Jack Harrell and his fiancé Patricia Dulaney, Arnold, MD, and her two great-grandchildren Brodie and Sadie Powell; and one crazy dog named Noel.

Born in Metz, France on April 14, 1942, she was the only daughter of Sylvestre (Leon) Weittmann and Alice Marie Charlotte Hildwein. Edith lived in France until she met her 1st husband Ronald Leslie Wilson and they moved to the United States. A proud military wife raising her daughter, moved from Summerville, South Carolina to Clinton, Maryland and finally Arnold, Maryland. Edith was fluent in French, German and English. She received her Associates degree from PGCC and continued to take recreational college Art classes at AACC until early November 2022.

Edith worked for the government as a clerk typist since the late 1970's, which allowed her to work at the Fort Meade Base in Maryland and the Charleston, S.C. Air Force Base, where she met her 2nd husband Robert G. Dean. In 1983, Widowed, she moved to Clinton, MD where she worked for DOD in Alexandria, VA and finished her career at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center as a Secretary until she retired in 1996.

Edith loved to travel to France and Germany after retirement, where she would live 4-6months out of the year with her partner Siegfried Huther. She was crafty and artistic is so many ways. Wherever Edith went, she saw art and beauty in everything. She loved to bake, sew, garden and just enjoy life. Raising her daughter, being around her grandsons and enjoying time with her great-grandchildren are what motivated Edith daily and everyone who knew her or met her couldn't resist her vibrant personality.

The celebration of life for Edith Renee Dean will be on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11am.
