E. Robert Seitz
E. Robert "Bob" Seitz, 78, a resident of Severna Park for 37 years, died of heart failure Dec. 25 at University Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Seitz was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Baltimore. He attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and graduated from John Hopkins University in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
He began his career with Rummel Klepper and Kahl Consulting Civil Engineers in 1948 as a member of a survey crew. He worked on the project that designed U.S. 50 from Parole to Washington D.C., and helped design the original Jones Falls Expressway, then managed its reconstruction 30 years later. He led the design teams for many projects in Baltimore, building roads, highways and buildings including the Baltimore Convention Center.
He was promoted to being an Associate of the company in the early 1970s, and became a partner in 1981. He retired in 1992.
He served in the Army from 1950 to 1953 in the Army Security Agency.
Mr. Seitz was the past president and a member of Maryland Association of Engineers and was a registered professional engineer. He was also a member of County Engineer Association, Bay Hills Country Club, and Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed golf, tennis and boating.
Survivors include his wife, Carol L. Seitz, whom he married in 1969; four sons, Robert Seitz of Severn, Jeff Seitz of Baltimore, and Timothy Seitz and Brian Swisher of Edgewater; one daughter, Rebekah Seitz of Severn; and five grandsons.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 110 Ritchie Highway in Pasadena.
Interment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park.
