Former Jacksonville, Fl. Resident Duncan McKay Holt, 89, died March 8, 2014, at his home in Severna Park, Md. Mr. Holt was born June 10, 1924, in Nashville, Tn. to Albert Campbell Holt and Mary Ackerly Holt. He was the 5th of 6 children. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp where he flew 33 combat missions over Germany. He graduated from University of Florida as an Electro-Mechanical engineer with high honors. While in school he met and married Marjorie Lucille Sewell. Mr. Holt was hired by Westinghouse Electric Corporation and moved for a short time to Pittsburgh, Pa., settling permanently in Severna Park, MD, where he continued with Westinghouse as a manager for 37 years. He enjoyed sailing, skiing, flying, scuba-diving, model making, and travel.
Mr. Holt was an Elder in Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, a member of Annapolis Yacht Club, and past Commodore of the Sailing Club of the Chesapeake. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, former Congresswoman Marjorie S. Holt, a son Edward Sewell Holt, MD of Annapolis, daughters Rachel Holt Tschantre and Victoria Holt Perry, both of Severna Park, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, all of Severna Park, Annapolis, and the Eastern Shore, and a sister, Helen Walter of Las Cruces, NM.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 3344, Annapolis, MD 21403.
The family will receive friends and neighbors for a Memorial Gathering at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, on Thursday March 13, 2014 from 6-8 pm and there will be a Memorial Service at Woods Memorial Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, in Severna Park, on Friday March 14, 2014 at 10 am with reception following at the church.
