Douglas Walter Burkhardt, 85, a resident of Arnold, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2022.

He was born on September 3, 1937, in Newark, New Jersey to Walter and Gertrude Burkhardt. He was raised in Little Silver, New Jersey. Douglas attended Red Bank High School, graduating in the class of '56 and then went to Monmouth University. He served in the US Army in the early 1960's. He later settled in Arnold, MD and had a career as an executive in the textile and construction industry.

Douglas married his wife Patricia on October 1, 1966, they were married for 56 years.  His family was the most important thing to him.  He loved them very much.  He was a sports car enthusiast, enjoyed horticulture, and was an accomplished artist.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Burkhardt of Arnold; his son, Justus Burkhardt of Severna Park; his daughter-in-law, Priscilla Burkhardt of Severna Park; and his two grandsons, John Burkhardt of Severna Park and Sean Burkhardt of Severna Park.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at MD Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 11:30 am at 1122 Sunrise Beach Road Crownsville, 21032.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project & Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
