Dotty Marie Deaton (nee Pooser), 67, a 14 year resident of Annapolis, died on January 30, 2009 at Genesis Eldercare in Severna Park, due to cancer.
She was born on July 6, 1941 in Brevard, NC and raised in Marion, NC and was a past resident of Thomasville, NC from 1973-1994. Mrs. Deaton graduated from Salem College in Winston-Salem, N. C. in 1963 with a BA Degree in English
She was employed as an Admission Counselor for High Point University in High Point, NC.
Mrs. Deaton was very active volunteering with Meals on Wheels in Thomasville, NC. She enjoyed cross-stitching, gardening, and was a very skilled cook. She won "Yard of the Month" various times in Annapolis, MD. Mrs. Deaton was an avid animal lover and longtime supporter of "Best Friends". She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville, NC. Mrs. Deaton was also a friend of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park, Maryland.
Survivors include her husband, Lawson A. Deaton, Jr., whom she married May 26, 1973, of Annapolis, MD; one son, Lawson A. Deaton III of Bonney Lake, WA; one daughter, Berry Elizabeth Sprague of Arnold, MD; and two grandchildren, Aaron A. Deaton and Allison C. Deaton.
Family and friends may visit on Monday, February 2, 2009 at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home at 495 Gov. Ritchie Highway in Severna Park for a Memorial Visitation from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.
Interment will be private.
