Dorothy Ludwig Slack, 88, a 42 year resident of Severna Park, died on August 1, 2013, at her home.

She was born on August 18, 1924 in Berks County, PA, and was raised in Newark, DE. She previously lived in Arbutus from 1950-1971, than resided in Berrywood in Severna Park from 1971-2002, until she moved to McKinsey Park in 2002.
Dorothy was employed with the University of Delaware Agriculture Department and later became a private secretary for Dean of Education for the University.

She was a homemaker; an active volunteer in Red Cross, church, public schools, and an inner city daycare center; Girl Scout Leader; President of Berrywood Garden Club; and was a longtime member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Dorothy loved playing bridge, painting, boating, crabbing, travel, and children, and she had an awesome sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Irene Ludwig; her sister, Darlene Morgan; and brother, Leonard Ludwig.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Herbert S. Slack of Severna Park; two daughters, Patti Buckingham of Columbia and Joanne Hanner of Lawrenceville, GA ; and three grandchildren, Jodi Whalen, Lindsay Buckingham, and Todd Hanner.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 10:00 am at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, Severna Park, MD 21146, with reception to follow. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122.
