Dorothy J. Palmer 75, of Severna Park died on September 18, 2013 at BWMC in Glen Burnie MD.

Born December 30, 1937 in Syracuse New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles Washburn and Laone Munzell Washburn and the wife of 51 years to the late John D. Palmer.
Dorothy graduated in 1959 from University of the State of New York as a Registered Nurse. She worked most of her nursing career at what was known as North Arundel Hospital. When she and her family moved to Severna Park in 1967, she started her career at NAH as the Evening Supervisor for the hospital. Years later, she became Assistant Director of Nursing making her mark on NAH to this day.

Dorothy and her late husband John started LYILOK Studios in 1995. They named this thriving craft business after their 4 children. They enjoyed many years of folk art painting. She also enjoyed many crafts including antique dolls, knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing and baking along with her passion for reading and listening to books on tape/CD.

Being a devoted sister, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her brother Dr. Terry Washburn and his wife Linda Washburn of Geneseo, NY. She will be missed by her son Keith D. Palmer and his wife Vicki Palmer of Anahuac, TX and daughters Lynne M. Palmer of Baltimore, MD, Lisa P. Knisley and her husband Jack A. Knisley Jr. of Finksburg, MD and Lori A. Palmer of Severna Park, MD. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Christine Woda, Erik Knisley, Danielle Robinette, Alexander Palmer, Trevor Robinette, Abigail Palmer and Emily Stilwell.

A Memorial visitation will be held from 3-5:00 pm Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Barranco & Son's, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD 21146. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00pm in the funeral home chapel to celebrate the life of this wonderful woman.

Her family request any memorial contributions to be made to the John D. Palmer Scholarship Fund at Anne Arundel Community College.
