IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy J.
Masterson
November 30, 1938 – February 25, 2024
Dorothy Joyce Masterson, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024, at the age of 85.
Born on November 30, 1938, Dorothy's life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and dedication to her family and Catholic faith. Dorothy was a devout Catholic first and foremost, with a love for literature and hard work. Her career spanned 25 years with the Department of Defense, leading to her meeting the love of her life Lawrence Edward Masterson. She sanctified her love by marrying Lawrence on April 16, 1982.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence Masterson, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and an unbreakable bond, and her granddaughter Heather, whose memory she held close to her heart. She was preceded in death also by her brother Bob Novak and leaves behind a sister Ruth Hill who will miss her sister dearly. Her indelible legacy is carried through her sons, John Diehl (Robin) and Jeff Diehl (Kim), and children through marriage Brian Masterson (Melissa), Debbie Ratajezak (Ryan), and Kevin Masterson, all of whom were her pride and joys. Her grandchildren, Brittany, Tyler, Taylor, Derek, Anna, Alexandra, Brady, Seth, Noah, and Eli were ones to keep her young, all of whom she adored and supported in their endeavors.
Her great-grandchildren, Ky, Arianna, Aiden, and Ricky brought her immense joy in her later years, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Dorothy's wisdom, kindness, and unconditional love shaped the lives of those around her, leaving an indelible mark on her family.
Dorothy strived to make an impact to her community and stopped at nothing to help those around her. Even after a long career, she continued to support St. John the Evangelist in Severna Park, where she was a devout parishioner. She was also dedicated companion of the Military Order of World Wars, Ft. Meade, MD Chapter, giving her time to the Order whenever possible.
Dorothy's life was a testament to the strength of family bonds and the deep connections that nurture us. Her home was always a haven of warmth, laughter, and love, where all were welcome. She had an innate ability to see the beauty in every day and taught her family the value of appreciating the simple moments.
