Dorothy Ann Kolsch, 70, of Arnold, MD died at her home after a four year battle with cancer.
She was born Dorothy Ann Thorpe on November 20, 1938 in the town of Glenwood Landing on Long Island, New York, where she was also raised. She also lived in Brentwood on Long Island before moving to Arnold in 2001.
Mrs. Kolsch worked as a mailroom supervisor for Chemical Bank for 30 years, retiring in 2000. She served as a deacon at Christ Our Anchor Church in Annapolis, was a den mother for Cub Scouts, and attended the Senior Center in Arnold. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting for veteran's hospitals and going on bus trips. Mrs. Kolsch loved family gatherings and becoming a grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Kolsch, whom she married on August 14, 1960;
her sons, Jeffrey Kolsch of Farmingdale, NY and Gary Kolsch of Queens, NY; her daughter, Donna Reese of Florence, NJ; her mother, Dorothy May Thorpe of Arnold, MD; her sisters, Virginia Thorpe Gordon of Arnold, MD and Carol Weisz of Levittown, NY and four grandchildren, Nicole, Jenny, Kimberly, and David. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Owen Thorpe who died in 2006.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:00 am at Christ Our Anchor Church, 1281 Green Holly Drive Annapolis, MD 21409. Interment will take place at Pinelawn Memorial Park on Long Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Our Anchor Church.
