Dorothy Canning Grant, 93, died in Millersville, MD on February 3. "Dot" grew up in Forest Hills, NY, lived in Baltimore as a young bride and mother, and after living in California, Lima, Peru and Okinawa, settled in Millersville with her husband and five children. Her hospitable and generous nature made her well loved by neighbors, friends and family alike. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph V. Grant, Jr, and her son, Gerard C. Grant. Survivors include her daughter Peggy Stavely of Millersville; sons Joseph V. Grant III, of Millersville; Kevin J. Grant, of Glen Burnie; John D. Grant, of Middle River; seventeen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm., Thursday, February 6, at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, February 7, at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave., South, Millersville, MD 21108 Interment will take place on June 9, 2014 at Arlington National Cemetery, family and friends should meet at the Arlington National Cemetery Administration building at 1pm for a 2pm Service.
