Dorothy M. Cassidy (nee: Farrar) passed away on April 3, 2015, just 3 months shy of her 101st birthday. At the time of her death she was a resident of Sunrise of Severna Park,
Md. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 7, 1914 to the late Margaret and Edward Farrar.
She was the beloved wife of the late Mark M. Cassidy (Lt. Col. USArmy). She traveled with her husband to his military assignments to Berlin, Augsburg and Geissen, Germany and to Ft. Richardson in Alaska, finally settling near Ft. Meade. They also resided in Linthicum and Severna Park for many years. It should be noted that she was an avid volunteer, worked for the Postal Service, and was the first female editor for the Arundel Observer, later the Md. Gazette. Upon their retirement, they moved to Camdenton, Missouri where they lived for 20 years. After her husband's death, she returned to Maryland to be near family
Mrs. Cassidy was predeceased by her devoted brother, Charles Farrar and also by two precious grandchildren. She was the cherished mother of Judith Colletti, Jeanne Holmes, Cassandra Killion, M. Michael Cassidy and Patrick Cassidy. She was the much loved and appreciated mother in law of Bernard Holmes, Gretchen Cassidy, Judith Tambornino and the late John Colletti. She also leaves behind 13 Grandchildren, Jerry, Bonnie, Elizabeth, Mary Kay, Marcia, John, Mark, Claire, Tony, Mark A., Joseph, Erin, and Maura along with 10 great grandchildren. She was also a great great grandmother. A devoted nephew and two nieces also survive her.
An earlier marriage to George C. Hay ended in divorce.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday April 9, 2015 at 11:00am in the St. John Catholic Church 669 Ritchie Hwy. Severna park, MD 21146. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
