Doris Violet Meusel (nee Greene), a resident of Arnold, Md since 1956 died on June 30, 2013 at her home in Arnold. She was 85 years old.

Mrs. Meusel was born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 16, 1927 and lived there through her school years, graduating from Brighton High School, Brighton, MA in June 1944. She moved with her family in July 1944 to Baltimore County, MD. She married her husband, Albert Henry Meusel on June 18, 1949.

She had been employed by the former David Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center in Annapolis from March 1967 until her retirement in March 1989. She had been hired as a clerk typist and at the time of her retirement she held the position of Supervisory Supply Technician and was the head of the Annapolis Control Division Branch. In April 1997 she returned to the work force as a part time receptionist with Barranco and Sons Funeral Home in Severna Park. She worked there until 2009.

Mrs. Meusel was a long time member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Millersville, Md and was actively involved in many volunteer activities. Over the years she had taught Sunday School, was a member of the senior choir for almost 25 years, was a volunteer secretary in the Pastor's Study, member of the Altar Guild and was editor of the church newsletter. In addition, she enjoyed being involved in various fund raisers for the church and many other causes. She was a long time member of Lutheran Brotherhood, Anne Arundel Branch 8840 and served as her church's fraternal communicator. For a number of years she served as Anne Arundel Cluster Coordinator with the Delaware-Maryland Synodical Women's Organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

She loved her Lord, her church and her family and treasured time spent with them. She had a love of music and was known to burst into song at any given moment and was affectionately dubbed "The lady who had a song for everything" by family and friends. She also enjoyed needlework and decorative painting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Meusel in 1972; her granddaughter, Katie Donoho in 2012; mother, Violet Greene; father, George T. Mules, Jr.; and brothers, Harold and Robert Greene.

Mrs. Meusel is survived by five children- a son, Robert Albert Meusel of Annapolis; four daughters, Jeanne Marie Fisher of Glen Burnie, Md, Carol Lynne MacKenzie of Pasadena, Md, Patricia Anne Price of Arnold, MD, and Donna Marie Sherwood of Arnold, Md; seven granddaughters; and eleven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 1-4 pm and 5-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8249 Jumpers Hole Road, Millersville, Md on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 am. Burial will be private. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Christ Lutheran Church's "Worship & Music" fund at 8249 Jumpers Hole Road, Millersville, Md 21108.
