Donna Meng Stevens, 69, of Severna Park beloved wife of Daniel Stevens died June 17 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
Donna was born October 16, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri daughter of Chester Meng and Leona Murray Meng. She grew up in St. Louis and Atlanta, GA where she was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. She married Daniel Augustus Stevens of Charleston, SC September 10, 1960 and moved to Maryland where she resided until her death.
Throughout her life, Donna was a caring person always trying to help others in need. She was employed as a caregiver at the Provident Center in Arnold for a period of time. She also volunteered at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, for Meals on Wheels and was a Pastoral Home Visitor for St. John the Evangelist Church in Severna Park where she visited the sick and elderly at nursing and private homes. More recently she was very active at the Arnold Senior Center serving as coordinator and helping on various projects, and serving as chairman of the senior center advisory council.
Donna attended Anne Arundel Community College were she received certificates in real estate and geriatric care, and studied art. She was an accomplished artist who painted many works in oil and water color. Her paintings have been displayed and a number of venues around the county.
She is survived by her husband Daniel Stevens of 49 years; her two sons Dan Stevens of Davenport, FL and Bill Stevens of Glen Burnie; daughter Cheryl Stevens Lee of Severna Park; grandson Chris Lee of Severna Park; sisters Myrna Hamill of Fort Atkinson, WI and Frances Villanova of Lincoln RI; and, brother Glenn Meng of Atlanta GA.
Family and friends may visit on Monday June 21, 2010 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 11:00am in the St. John the Evangelist Church. Interment will be private.
