Donald Carl Trice died at Chart Senior Living in Annapolis after a prolonged illness on October 21, 2024 at the age of 88..

Donald is survived by his children and their spouses Richard and Tammie Trice of Fayetteville, North Carolina, James and Jane Trice of Corning, New York, and Carrie Joneckis of Severna Park; his grand-children Christine Swauger of Rivera Beach, Donald J. Swauger of Illinois, Bridgette Trice of Annapolis, Christopher Trice of Pasadena, Katherine Trice and Ryan Trice of Corning New York, and Carrie White of Wilmington, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Suzanne Derzay Trice, his eldest daughter Cassie Marie Smith, and his parents Harriet and Wilburn Trice.

Donald was born on April 12, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. The family moved to San Francisco, California during World War II then to Redwood City, California in 1945. He graduated from Sequoia High School in 1956, moving to Ithaca, New York to attend Cornell University. He married Suzanne C. Derzay of Palo Alto, California August 30, 1958. She joined him in Ithaca while he completed his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. They resided in Redwood City, California until moving to Pasadena, Maryland in 1978.

Donald worked for the Lockheed Corporation until his retirement in the 1990s. He then went to work for the Meta Corporation as a project manager overseeing the installation of the fiberoptic cable in many of the hospitals in Baltimore. He then went to work for Heifner and Weber construction as a program manager until his retirement. He fully retired from working at age 82.

Donald had a love a building and wood working. He had a passion for finding antique architectural pieces and incorporating them into the structure of his home. He was an avid collector of art glass, being particularly fond of cameo and clear layered colored glass. He collected artisanal crafts and artwork ornamented with parrots. He was an avid reader often reading, and remembering, 8-12 books per week. He was well known at the Mountain Road Library. Finally, Donald he had a great love of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them when they were able.

Family and friends may visit on Friday November 1, 2024 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday November 2, 2024 at 10:00am at St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church 689 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146. Interment at Lakemont Cemetery.
