Donald Alan Smit born on April 10 ^th 1952 in Pleasantville New Jersey. Donald was the third of eight children with five brothers and two sisters. Donald was raised in Arnold, Maryland.

He graduated from Severna Park High School in 1971 and enlisted in the Navy soon after.  In 1974 he was military medically retired Due to an accident.   Donald loved to go Bowling and was an avid swimmer in his younger years and also a member of the Boy scouts of America.  Donald enjoyed watching the Orioles and ravens play on T.V.  Donald lived in Pasadena until he passed away on October 21, 2019 surrounded by his family at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Donald Smit is survived by his sister Kathleen, and four brothers Lewis, Phillip, Josef, and Richard Smit. Along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice L. and Catherine Smit and two siblings.

Friends may visit on Friday October 25, 2019 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Services will be held on Saturday October 26, 2019 at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
