Donald Thomas Moylan, 94, passed away at Future Care Chesapeake on July 28, 2017. Born in Baltimore on April 29, 1923, he was the son of Thomas James Moylan and Grace Pennington Moylan. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served admirably during WW II. He considered his Marine Corps experience one of the greatest accomplishments of his life where he participated notably in the operations of Bougainville, Espiritu Santo, Guadalcanal, and Munda Point. Returning to civilian life, and after completing courses at Johns Hopkins University, he moved to Pennsylvania where he lived until 2010. There he was employed as a sales representative for General Electric and later NGK Metals.
A devout Catholic, he was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church in Berks County, PA until illness forced him to move to MD. Also noteworthy, was his devotion to the care of his son, Gregory Thomas Moylan, who passed away in 2006. An avid skier until the age of 80, he was a member of the Flying Dutchmen Ski Club in Wyomissing, PA. He also enjoyed gardening and landscaping. A music enthusiast, he took violin lessons in his later years.
His greatest joy was being a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Grace Moylan, brother,Thomas J. Moylan, son, Gregory T. Moylan, he is survived by his daughter, Judith Moylan-Forman (Jonathan) of Severna Park, MD, grandchildren- Benjamin T. Forman of Bethesda, MD, Phoebe E. Forman of Severna Park, MD, Julia Forman Tiede (Matt) and great grandson, "Penn"- Pennington James Tiede of New York, and sister, Mary E. Sydnor of Baltimore.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, Aug. 4th, 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Severna Park, MD. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Baltimore.
