It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Eugene Deneselya on October 26, 2023. He died at Complete Care Nursing Home, Silver Spring, MD, where he had been cared for the past 12 years. Donald was born on December 12, 1939 in Rankin, PA, to Peter and Mary Deneselya. One of nine children, his siblings included Mary Elizabeth, Anna, Helen, Martha, Pauline, Janet and Peter, all deceased, and Robert of Kent, Ohio, his only living sibling.
Donald was a 1957 graduate of Rankin High School and obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. After working as a Russian translator for the U.S.Government for several years, he worked as a real estate agent. Donald helped with the restoration of the Russian Cultural Center in Washington, DC and was on its Board. He was also involved in supporting the restoration of the Russian Orthodox Church which he attended.
Donald had a love of woodworking and building furniture, and travelled extensively with his sons' hockey teams when they were young. He and his family were able to attend the 1994 Olympics in Norway as one of their several trips to that country.
Donald is survived by his brother, Robert, his former wife Solbjorg "Sue", sons Axel and Lars, three grandchildren and six nieces. He is sadly missed and his memory cherished by all who knew him.
