Donald Norman Collins, Sr., 71, a 31 year resident of Severna Park, died on May 25, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, after a four month illness.
He was born on December 02, 1938 in Washington, D.C., where he was raised, lived in New Carrollton, MD prior to moving to Severna Park, and graduated from U.S.A.F. Technical Schools.
Mr. Collins was a dedicated lifelong patriot, having served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960. He retired from Time Magazine in 1993 as Manager of Communications.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Wesley Collins and sister, Carmen Marie Reid.
He was the loving husband of Sharon Marie Collins (nee Wilson) of Severna Park; devoted father of Donald Norman Collins, Jr. and his wife Leila of Silver Spring, Matthew George Collins and his wife Heidi of Marietta, GA, and Jennifer Louise Collins of Odenton; dear son of the late George and late Doris Collins; devoted brother of Janet Mae Terry and Michael Paul Collins; and loving grandfather who cherished each of his five grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, June 02, 2010 at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 03, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. Inurnment will follow immediately in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
