IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolly C.
Leonard
May 23, 1931 – November 21, 2024
Dolly Leonard, born Dolly Carolyn Burrell, passed away November 22, 2024 after a long illness.
Wife of William "Bill" Leonard for almost 58 years before his passing in 2011, Dolly had been a resident of Severna Park since October 1964. Prior to that she lived in Glen Burnie for several years. She spent her last few years in the expert hands of the staff at Country Home in Harwood MD.
Child of the Great Depression era, Dolly was born in 1931 in Berkeley Springs WV, but spent most of her childhood in the town of Kitzmiller in the mountains of western Maryland. She attended Frostburg State Teachers College, now Frostburg State University, where she was selected as May Queen during her senior year. She earned her degree in Elementary Education and taught grades 1 through 3 both before and after her marriage to Bill in 1953.
In 1956 Dolly left teaching to become a full-time wife and mother. She is survived by two daughters, Leslie Leonard Lowe and Linda Sue Leonard, and was the loving grandmother of Amy Lowe, John Lowe and Griffin Abrams.
Dolly loved nothing more than spending time with her family, in western Maryland, on the beach in Ocean City, or at home in Severna Park. She was loved in return and will be missed.
