Dixie Lee Pugh, 51, of Annapolis, died of lung cancer June 6 at her home after a three-year illness.

Mrs. Pugh was born Aug. 8, 1953, in Baltimore to Gene and Laura Gunter of Dundalk. She graduated from Dundalk High School in 1971 and attended Dundalk Community College where she met her husband. She married Ellis Leroy " Lee" Pugh Jr. in April 1973 and lived in Germany with him.
They moved to Annapolis in the early 1980s and Mrs. Pugh worked as a teacher's assistant at the Chesapeake Montessori School. In 1988 the family returned to Germany for three years where she worked at a child care center on the military base.

In 1991 they came back to Annapolis and she resumed her work at the Montessori School where she also planned and conducted the summer programs for several years. She was forced to leave her school duties because of illness.

In addition to her parents and her husband, survivors include one son, Jeffery Lee Pugh, and one daughter, Jennifer Lee Pugh, both of Annapolis; her grandmother, Lillian Dunlap of Dundalk; one brother, Gene Gunter Jr. of Parkville; and two sisters, Susan Eubank of Lynchburg, Va., and Sally Bowers of Rosedale.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church, 461 College Parkway, Arnold. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
