Diane Gransky, a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, died at home after fighting a hard battle with cancer.
Diane was born in 1953 to Charles and Jeanne Volz. She is survived by her husband Martin Gransky; son Christopher Larsen, wife Jessica and grandsons Ethan and Miles; daughter Erin Larsen; twin brother David Volz; and two sisters, Deborah Weber and Drucinda Fredrick.
As a young child, Diane developed an interest in music and began to study piano when she was in the second grade. She attended the Peabody Preparatory as a teenager, and then earned a degree in piano from the Shenandoah Music Conservatory. One of her greatest pleasures was playing the piano for church services and school programs. Diane also enjoyed accompanying other musicians, and entertained her family and friends with her musical talent.
Diane was a passionate, caring, educator who spent her last 15 years in the Anne Arundel Public School system as a co-teacher at Northeast High School and then as a reading Intervention Technician at Chesapeake Middle School. Her students brought her great joy, and she was greatly respected and appreciated by students, faculty and administrations.
Her family, friends, and the Severna Park United Methodist Church congregation will miss Diane greatly. Her musical presence and performances made a lasting impression on many.
There will be a visitation at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home at 495 Ritchie Highway on Friday, January 6th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. Friends are invited to celebrate Diane's life at Severna Park United Methodist Church on Saturday January 7th at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Severna Park United Methodist Church with reference to "Memorial Gift for Diane Gransky." The memorial fund in her honor will be used to enhance the musical program of the church she loved.
