Dennis "Denny" S. Gardner, 71, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, Maryland. Denny is survived by his loving wife Linda of 48 years and daughter Heather Sheehan. He now joins his daughter Leona who passed away at a young age. Family was always at the absolute center of Denny's life.


Denny is also lovingly remembered by brother Bill (Tina) Gardner, brother Barry (Garnet) Gardner, brother Jimmy (Leona) Abraham, son-in-law Andy Sheehan, grandchildren Gardner and Riley Jane Sheehan, and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He is also preceded in death by his parents Harry and Irene Gardner.


Denny was born in Jeannette, PA in 1944. He earned a Business degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1969 and went on to a successful career in finance and general management in the Severna Park, Maryland area.


Denny always spoke directly and from the heart. Once asked on how to be a good father, he replied "just love them." On weekends when the Pittsburgh Steelers were not playing, he often enjoyed golfing, boating and woodworking in the garage listening to the Beatles and Motown music. Denny loved to dance and was often the first one on the dance floor. Denny's grandchildren will never forget his sense of humor and early morning surprise trips to Dunkin' Donuts.


The family will be celebrating Denny's life in a private gathering. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compass Regional Hospice, 255 Comet Drive, Centreville, MD 21617
