Dennis M. Callahan of Severna Park, MD, formerly of Annapolis, died of cardiac arrest on February 8, 2012, at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

He was born and raised in Baltimore and graduated from Baltimore City College. Dennis attended the University of Maryland and served in the Army from 1960-1963.

Dennis was an entrepreneur and founded Maryland Medical Lab and Tuxedo International. He served as Mayor of Annapolis from 1985-1989, Director of Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks, and currently served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Anne Arundel County.

He enjoyed poker, playing pitch and catch and release fishing at his cabin in West Virginia, and was a fan of Duke Basketball.

Dennis is survived by his wife Brenda Joyce Callahan of Severna Park and his sons; Shaun P. Callahan (Sheila) of Baltimore and Colin M. Callahan (Sherry Vain-Callahan) of Severna Park, He was the grandfather of Jack, Alyssa, Eamonn, Rohan and Marah, and brother of Sharon Vale and Cassandra Junk.

Friends may visit at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Sunday, February 12th, from 2 to 5 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Severna Park United Methodist Church, on Monday at 10 am.
