Dena Constantine Melzer, formerly Konstantina Pappafotis, 90 passed away peacefully on March 27, 2019 at Sunrise Assisted living in Severna Park, Maryland. Dena was born August 30, 1928 to the late John and Anna Pappafotis who immigrated from Greece in the 1920's.

Dena was raised on Indiana avenue of Washington, D.C. where she attended Eastern High School. She married the late Stanley H. Moreland and they had three children.

She retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1983 after 35 years of service. She spent her retirement years traveling the world, enjoying good food and good wine. She had a profound love of theater, opera and ballet. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family most of all.

She was preceded in death by her loving partner of 35 years, John Menzel, her sister Mary Pappafotis, her brothers Emanuel and Spero Pappafotis. She is survived by her loving children, Mary Preston (Dennis Preston) of Wake Forest, N.C., John Moreland (Joyce Moreland) of Dunkirk, Md and Linda Moreland of Crofton, Md. Other survivors include her siblings Despina Kinnahan and George Pappafotis, 13 cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A service will be held on Monday April 1, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Severna Park United Methodist Church 731 Benfield Rd. Severna Park, Md 21146. The interment will be held on Tuesday April 2, 2019 at 12:00pm at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
