Delbert Langley
Delbert C. Langley, 87, of Severna Park, died of natural causes April 12 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Langley was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Maryland and reared in Arnold before living in Severna Park for 51 years. He was a 1937 graduate of Annapolis High School.
During World War II he served in the Navy on the USS Monrovia and the USS Dorother and was part of the amphibious assault in the invasion of Normandy.
He worked as the supervisor of buildings and grounds maintenance at the Naval Academy for 27 years.
Mr. Langley was a member of Annapolis Elks Lodge 622 and the American Legion, and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, cooking and gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Beatrice R. Langley; one son, Robert C. Langley of Branson, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Jeanne Mullen of Annapolis and Janet R. Justiss of Dangerfield, Texas; one stepson, Stephen D. Sears of Hyde Park, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was the son of the late Ella Isabel and Thomas H. Langley.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park. Burial will be private.
