IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delaine S.
Gray
August 9, 1960 – June 17, 2024
DeLaine Suzanne Gray, a devoted mother, gifted jeweler, and fiercely loyal advocate for fairness and family, passed away unexpectedly last year. She was 63.
DeLaine's absence has been deeply felt, and only now, with time and tenderness, can her family begin to find any words to address her passing. Grief, like love, has no schedule—and neither does the weight of losing someone so central to your life. This remembrance comes later than we ever imagined, but it comes with all the love she deserves.
As a dedicated caregiver to everything from her plants, to her dogs and cats, she embodies what it means to be a matriarch, but her most enduring work was the life she created for her children. To Morgan and Zachary, she was not only a mother but a protector, a compass, and a constant. Her love was fierce, unconditional, and always present.
She cherished her family deeply, always practicing the southern hospitality she was raised on - her mother Dianne; her daughter Morgan; her son Zachary; her sister Kathy; her brother Kevin; and her former husband, Greg, along with countless others — mourn her loss and celebrate the strength, clarity, and grace she brought into their lives.
DeLaine held a lifelong affection for the North Carolina coast—the salty breeze, the quiet rhythm of the waves, and the sense of peace it brought her. It is there, among the dunes and tide, that her ashes now rest. The beach was her sanctuary in life and now her final resting place.
Her family finds comfort in the message of Amazing Grace, a hymn that echoed her belief in redemption, resilience, and the sacredness of love. Though she left us suddenly, her spirit remains steady, her love enduring, and her memory a beacon.
DeLaine Suzanne Gray will be remembered for her firm convictions, generous heart, and the way she loved—completely; without condition.
She is deeply missed.
In her honor, the family asks that you show kindness to someone who needs it. That's what she would have done.
