Deborah "Debbie" Cochrane Deitz, 72, a resident of Millersville, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on October 9, 2022.

She was born on June 4, 1950, in Bronxville, NY, the middle child in a family of five children and the only daughter. She met John Deitz in New York City in 1972 and they were married in January 1973. John and Debbie were married for close to 50 years and they had four children, all boys.

Early in her career, Debbie was employed with the Washington Federal Savings and Loan. As her family grew, she worked full-time as a mother and homemaker, also volunteering at Monsignor Slade Catholic School.

She took great joy in her children and worked tirelessly as a mother in raising and teaching her four boys. She loved them unconditionally with compassion, strength, and her secret weapon – humor. She found great purpose in sharing in the lives, successes, loves, joys, and challenges of the boys she steered into men.

More recently, she adored being a grandmother to her twelve grandchildren. Debbie had a huge heart for younger children and was eager to spend time with and read to her grandchildren.

When Debbie wasn't with friends and family she was usually entrenched in a book. She was an avid reader and her favorite place in the world was the beach with a good book and a glass of chardonnay. She was also an exceptional cook and loved to do it. Her table was always full and fun.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Al Cochrane.

She is survived by her husband, John Deitz of Millersville, MD; four sons, Brian J. Deitz (Courtney) of Georgia, Kevin A. Deitz (Ariel) of Annapolis, MD, Stephen M. Deitz (Alicia) of Arnold, MD, and Patrick M. Deitz (Lindsey) of Millersville, MD; three brothers, Gary Cochrane of NY, Terry Cochrane of NY, and John Cochrane of VA; and 12 grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her sharp sense of humor, her encouragement as a listener and her comfortable grace and care for those she loved. Her frequent and contagious laugh will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

A Memorial Mass will be offered on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Fields, 1070 Cecil Avenue, Millersville, MD 21108.
