Dawn Carol (nee Stitz) Cullis passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025. Born on October 5, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland to Kester Stitz and Margaret (nee Ross) Stitz, she lived most of her adult life in Severna Park, Maryland.

After graduating from Eastern High School in 1960, Dawn attended Maryland General Hospital School of Nursing, where she obtained a Registered Nurse degree in 1964. After graduation, she worked at Maryland General Hospital as a nurse and trainer.

She married Dr. Thomas Carlton Cullis on May 27, 1966. In 1968, Dawn resigned from her nurse position, and The Cullis moved to Severna Park where they raised their family. In 1983 Dawn

resumed her nursing career at Deaton Hospital and Medical Center where she worked as a Nurse Manager for 23 years.

Dawn was an avid traveler, and after her retirement in 2006 she fulfilled her dream of travelling the world. She traveled more than 13 countries and traveled across the United States.

Dawn was a longtime and active member of Severna Park United Methodist Church, where she volunteered and served in numerous groups and ministries including Heaven's Kitchen, Wednesday Night Alive, Sunday Bible School teacher, Vacation Bible School Coordinator, Missions Committee, Church Garage Sales, Appalachia Service Project, Sisterhood, and XYZ Group (now known as Adults Loving Life). Additionally, Dawn served as a parish nurse. She traveled the world with Volunteers in Mission, where she participated in missions in more than 7 countries.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, children Timothy Cullis and wife Volky Aline of Severna Park, and Heather Beal and husband Bruce and grandchildren Michaela and Joshua of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Stitz.

Family and friends may join the Cullis Family in a celebration of life service on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Road, Severna Park, MD 21146.
