David James Steinhoff, 72, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center, in Annapolis, MD.
He was born to James Luther and Dorothy Whitford Steinhoff in Erie, PA, on December 15, 1950. David was a 1969 graduate of East High School in Erie. He earned a bachelor's degree in Finance at Pennsylvania State University in 1973 and a Master of Arts degree in Economics in 1975, also from Penn State. David married Cynthia Kay Shank of Lower Burrell, PA, on July 11, 1977, at Shank's Grove in Lower Burrell.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; sister-in-law and brother in-law, Kimberlee and Richard Romano of Lower Burrell, PA; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Timothy and Sheri Shank, of Avonmore, PA.
David worked as an economic development specialist at North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission in Ridgway, PA, from 1975 until 1980. He then worked for the State of Maryland in various economic development roles, Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation as manager of its small business loan programs, and was a vice president at CommerceFirst Bank in Annapolis, followed by a similar position at Sandy Spring Bank. He was a part-time accounting instructor at Anne Arundel Community College. David enjoyed fishing, running, reading, and researching his family history. He trained his Chesapeake Bay retrievers – Lucy, January, Nettie, and Annie – and most recently, did the same with Lizzie, a beagle.
