It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David “Dave” Francis Orlando, 64, of Millersville, Maryland, on July 24, 2026. He was born on June 18, 1962, in Manhattan, New York, to Lucille and Victor Orlando.

Dave graduated from Chaminade High School and earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York, followed by a master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Columbia University. In 1984, he began his career with Grumman as a stress engineer specializing in advanced composite aircraft design. During his 38-year career with Northrop Grumman, Dave contributed to numerous critical military aircraft programs and steadily took on positions of increasing responsibility, serving as Chief Engineer and Program Director before retiring in 2021.

Dave was a lifelong learner, always eager to tackle difficult subjects and master unfamiliar skills. He had an exceptional depth of knowledge and was generous in sharing his expertise with younger engineers, family, and friends. He was a natural mentor who took great satisfaction in helping others learn and succeed.

Dave also had a true adventurous spirit. His passions included driving, sailing, motorcycling, flying, and music. He embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. To his family and friends, Dave will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor.

Dave was a devoted son, husband, and father who cared deeply for his family and was always there for them, providing his time, support, and love throughout the years.

Dave is survived by his parents, Lucille and Victor Orlando; his beloved wife of 41 years, Frances “Fran” Orlando; his son, Stephen “Steve” Orlando; and his daughter, Margaret “Maggie” Orlando and her fiancé, Casey Conrad.

A gathering to celebrate Dave’s life will be held at Barranco Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146, on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.

Dave’s life was defined by his love of family, his curiosity about the world, his willingness to share what he knew, and his ability to bring humor and warmth to those around him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
